1819 graduates ten startup teams 

UC’s Venture Lab startup accelerator at the 1819 Innovation Hub has graduated ten new startup teams, one of which hails from NKU. Other universities represented include Xavier University, University of Dayton, Wright State University, and Cincinnati State.

Speaking of UC, the school has partnered with Hoth Therapeutics to perform critical antimicrobial characterization studies with HT-006 as part of the streamlined drug development plan.

Forest fire tech

Another school making strides in innovation is Xavier University. Acting through the school’s entrepreneurship program, seniors Tucker O’Neill and Beck Apple have developed early warning system tech for fighting forest fires. The duo placed second in the Big East Startup Pitch Competition held Feb 25.

High school innovation

A Mason High School senior has invented a water contamination-detecting device. The device landed her as a finalist in the Society for Science’s national Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021, an annual science and mathematics competition dating back to 1942.
