FinTech Frontier has announced the official kickoff of its annual Pitch Competition by inviting early stage startups to showcase their fintech innovations on Oct. 28. The focus will be on data & privacy, supply chain, increasing access, and green fintech.
Kroger partners with Instacart
Kroger Co. announced that it has partnered with Instacart to launch “Kroger Delivery Now,” to enable the delivery of groceries and other essentials in just 30 minutes. The service offers more than 25,000 items and reaches as many as 50 million homes.
Converting carbon dioxide into methane
Engineers at the University of Cincinnati are developing new ways to convert greenhouse gases into fuel to address climate change and get astronauts home from Mars. They used a carbon catalyst in a reactor to convert carbon dioxide into methane — a process the International Space Station uses to scrub the carbon dioxide from air that the astronauts breathe and generate rocket fuel to keep the station in high orbit.
Black Girl Ventures’ pitch event
Black Girl Ventures, which aims to give minority, female entrepreneurs access to capital, is now taking applications for its local pitch competition in November. The competition will be voted on by viewers via the platform Raisify. Black Girl Ventures used a $500,000 grant from Kroger for its Cincinnati launch.
Ohio to Work expands to Cincy
Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef announced the expansion of the Ohio To Work initiative into Columbus, Toledo, Cincinnati, Dayton, and the Mahoning Valley. The Ohio to Work initiative first launched in Cleveland in September 2020.
