Rumpke uses robots to pull plastics
There’s been a considerable increase in demand for recyclable materials such as No. 5 plastics, the kind of plastic used in food storage like margarine and yogurt. Rumpke Waste & Recycling is using AI robots to pull No. 5 plastics off the plant line at its St. Bernard facility. Rumpke will begin installing additional robots dedicated to retrieving high-density polyethylene, or No. 2 plastics, in the coming months.
Airway Therapeutics doses first patient in trial
Earlier this year, we reported that the FDA accepted Airway Therapeutics’ application for an investigational drug treatment designed to help some of the sickest coronavirus patients recover. The first patient has been dosed in a Phase 1b trial of AT-100 in severe COVID-19 patients and seems to be on the mend.
NKU ranks high for entrepreneurial programs
The University Headquarters, an online resource dedicated to helping students navigate higher education, revealed its top 100 schools that offer the most affordable programs for students wanting to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Northern Kentucky University ranked #9 for its Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE). Last year, the CIE was named one of the world’s best in creating, advancing and enabling educational opportunities from the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers.
