Education is a cornerstone topic for Insider Louisville, and a critical issue for the community. We’ve recently expanded our news team, adding Olivia Krauth as our education reporter, to ensure that the public school system will receive the coverage it deserves.

We also want to continue the discussion offline, and we want to expand the conversation to include ideas and perspectives that aren’t always part of debates on education policy.

So we asked our readers and leaders in the community: What innovative initiatives are you working on to help students succeed?

Join us on April 11 to hear their innovative ideas!

We’ve got a special youthful treat for attendees. Lemonade Day is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start and operate their own business — a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day Louisville will be on hand to share more information about the upcoming Lemonade Day Louisville, and they’ll have some lemonade to quench your thirst.

The program:

We’ll hear about perspectives and initiatives that are happening behind the scenes of normal coverage, talk about what’s working, and what challenges lie ahead. We’re going to make this interesting and impactful by limiting speakers to five minutes. That’s right – five minutes. You won’t want to miss a minute of the program.

Contributing to the discussion are:

Sadiqa Reynolds, President & CEO, Louisville Urban League

Theresa Reno-Weber, President & CEO, Metro United Way

Theo Edmonds, Chief Imaginator + Co-Founder, IDEAS xLab

Christy Rogers, Director of College & Career Readiness for JCPS

Pat Durham, Executive Vice President, Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville

Gwen Snow, Principal, ESL Newcomer Academy

Ashley Lamb-Sinclair, 2016 Kentucky Teacher of the Year and founder of Curio Learning *Insider Louisville reader submission presenter.

Event Schedule:

5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Networking

6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Discussion + Q & A
